What started as a bold vision by the Rotary Club of Parys has grown into one of South Africa’s most exciting street mile events, bringing together elite athletes, local runners, and families.

In 2024, the Parys Crater Street Mile made history as South Africa’s first World Registered Mile and an official ASA Free State Qualifier setting a new benchmark for street racing.
In 2025, the event grew even stronger. Bigger fields, faster times, and an electric atmosphere confirmed what we already knew this isn’t just a race, it’s a movement.
For elite athletes, this is a dream mile a stage where sub-4-minute ambitions come to life in the Elite Men’s race, and where the Elite Ladies have set the standard with record-breaking performances in both 2024 and 2025.
But what makes this event truly special isn’t just records or recognition it’s the people.
